Laboratory Services

Mr. Dale Robertson has over twenty years experience in environmental chemistry and is Paracel’s Environmental Laboratory Director. He has overall responsibility of the daily operations of the laboratory involving both administrative and production management. Mr. Robertson has an extensive background in analytical measuring systems, test method validation, QC protocols, and information technologies.

Mr. Mark Foto obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry with a specialization in Environmental and Chemical Toxicology at Carleton University. Upon completion of his graduate studies Mr. Foto joined the team at Paracel where he has over ten years experience in environmental chemistry. Currently, he holds the position of Lab Manager, Environmental, and is responsible for production management, reporting, client requests as well as technical supervision of all Environmental staff. He also has extensive bio-analytical knowledge involving endotoxins and 1,3-β-glucans.

Mr. David Peeler has his B.Sc. (Hon) in Analytical Chemistry and 20+ years working in an analytical laboratory. Mr. Peeler is Paracel's QA/QC Officer and Health & Safety Officer and has eleven years experience as a Quality Manager in an environmental analytical laboratory setting. In this capacity, Mr. Peeler is responsible for the overall design and implementation of Paracel’s Quality System and laboratory QA/QC including the authorization of all edits, deletions, and additions to quality system documentation. Mr. Peeler routinely performs internal quality system and health & safety audits for the laboratory to ensure that all analytical testing is performed in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Mr. Tim McCooeye has his B.Sc. in Chemistry and is a Chartered Chemist with the Ontario Association of the Chemical Profession of Ontario(ACPO).  Mr. McCooeye has worked in environmental analytical laboratories for over 25 years in varying capabilities from bench analyst to quality control and senior management.  Mr. McCooeye is Paracel's Senior Technical Manager responsible for special projects and operational improvements. He has extensive instrumentation and methodology experience including chromatography, optical and mass spectrometry, organic, inorganic and microbiological analyses.

Mrs. Heather McGregor has a B.Sc and over nineteen years of experience in environmental microbiology. Mrs. McGregor has trained in fungal identification for four years under the direct guidance of Drs. David Miller and Keith Seifert. Additional training in fungal spore and isolate identification was gained through Centraalbureau Voor Shimmelcultures and Aerobiology Instruction and Research Laboratory(Harvard University). Expertise in Asbestos identification is also in her portfolio, through the McCrone Research Institute training and working with asbestos analysis since she established the related analyses at Paracel in 2007.  Her responsibilities include the daily operations within Paracel’s Microbiology Department. This includes technical, administrative and production for our laboratories in both Ottawa and Mississauga.   

Emma Diaz has over fifteen years experience in an environmental analytical laboratory facility.  She has 17 years experience working with asbestos identification along with several years training and experience in forensic microscopy and fungal identification.  Emma holds the position of Laboratory Manager in Mississauga and is responsible for report authorization, client inquiries as well as the daily operations within the Paracel's-Mississauga Microbiology Laboratory.

Client Service and Business Development

Mr. Shawn Howard has over eight years of experience in the environmental laboratory industry. He has a working knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal regulations. Mr. Howard holds the position of Business Development Manager for Eastern Ontario. His main focus is to maintain and develop Paracel's market share in eastern Ontario.

Mr. Dan Van Bakel has over twenty three years of experience in designated substances, hazardous materials and environmental testing services.  Mr. Van Bakel holds the position of Business Development Manager in London, ON. His main focus is to maintain and develop Paracel's market share in Southwestern Ontario as well as managing our new London Depot which opened in August 2014.
